Position Overview
As Somalia progresses towards peace and security post-establishment of the Federal Government, several challenges like violent extremism, clan conflicts, and internal displacement still pose threats to stability. CTG has been pivotal since 2016 in aiding the government and communities to foster transition and recovery in regions affected by displacement and conflict through its Transition & Recovery Pillar (TRP) project.
Role Objectives
The Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Associate will coordinate monitoring, evaluation, and reporting functions of the program under the direct supervision of the National Officer (M&E) and guidance from the Senior Program Coordinator (Community Stabilization) and Program Officer (M&E and Communications).
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with program teams to gather information and assist in implementing program reporting requirements.
- Develop and refine project monitoring tools and plans with clear roles, timelines, and targets.
- Lead data collection efforts through surveys, interviews, and group discussions, translating tools from English to Somali as needed.
- Strengthen the Monitoring and Evaluation systems, maintaining records and managing data uploads to SharePoint.
- Conduct field visits to ensure current data collection for accurate documentation and reporting.
- Document success stories and lessons learned, ensuring they are shared with relevant teams timely.
Project Reporting:
This role reports to the Senior Program Coordinator (Community Stabilization), Program Officer (M&E and Communications), and directly to the National Officer (M&E).
Key Competencies and Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, M&E, International Development, or a related field.
- High school diploma with extensive experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
Experience:
- Minimum four years (with a degree) or six years (with a high school diploma) of relevant professional experience in M&E.
- Experience in humanitarian or development settings, particularly with INGOs or UN agencies.
- Proven ability to implement M&E activities in volatile settings, preferably in Somalia.
Skills:
- Proficient in M&E methodologies and data collection tools.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and writing skills.
- Fluent in both English and Somali.
